The day started out with
beautiful clear blue skies. This changed later with but
even cloudbursts couldn't dampen the spirits for this
cookoff. Friday night there was a very well received
cooks party at the Trinidad Brewery. The cooks with
RV's parked, and set up, on the street outside the
brewery. The next day the sun shone brightly and the
crowds started to gather for the event. There were
venders of every kind, a car show, petting zoo, pony
rides etc.. everything you would expect from this long
running festival. The crowd dispersed a bit during a
downpour of rain, but quite a few people gathered under
the tents, with the cooks. Rodney Lilly took the honors
in the Red category this day. Steve Lee took Green and
Showmanship and Mike Parker took first in the Bean
category. All in all a wonderful day in Southern
Colorado!
