Saturday September
10,
2005
Superior, Colorado
4th Place Red, 5th Place Salsa
1st Place Chili Verde
and a Trip to the World
Championship
This is another cookoff that needs to be on your list of annual events
- you need to mark it now! If you have kids this
one is a must. Chili lovers gathered Saturday
in Community Park, for the annual Old West Chili
Fest. After the cooks meeting, things started
to heat up. The scents from the cooks fires
filled the air with that wonderful aroma of
simmering chili. There was no shortage of
cooks, crowd or chili on this fantastic
September day. When the crowd was not tasting
chili they were having fun at a plethora of
other activities that were being conducted all
over the park. From Arts and Craft booths to
petting zoos, all to the tunes of Funkiphino
In the end, three lucky cooks made their way to the stage to take their
bow and in doing so, secured a trip to the world finals
in Omaha Nebraska in October.
And the Winners are….
The winner of the
Salsa Division was Judy Wedemeyer.
Steven Lee of Longmont
took 1st in the Chili Verde Division and
Erika Knutson took
first in the Red Division.
The real winners of
the day were all of the people affected by Hurricane
Katrina. All proceeds from the event have been donated
to relief efforts.
